Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace

This posting is to show off the bass saxophone, not the saxophone player. I didn't pick up a saxophone until I was 50 and I don't play well. Amazing Grace is about the only melody I can play without seeing the music. This saxophone was made in 1922 by C. G. Conn Ltd. in Elkhart, Indiana. It had some serious playing into the 1930's. The plating on the horn is silver with gold keywork and trim. Sometime in the late 1930's the pads were replaced incorrectly and the saxophone ended up hanging on the wall of a music store in St. Petersburg, Florida because it would not play. I purchased the horn around 2000 to restore.

There wasn't enough room to set up to take this inside. I was using the built in mic on the 7D and the wind noise made things difficult.
